Blue Dress progress

What you are about to read is true - I had sparkly stuff and I did not sew in on something.  True. I said no.  This is a cool dress and the sparkly stuff on the bodice killed it. So . . . I am going to splice together blocks from the lining, bodice and skirt and make that a border at the bottom. I will add the sparkle tape to that.

It took longer to sew this together than I thought. I am actually making myself go slow and be careful. I can see how my work carries over and makes me feel like I have to do stuff fast. That is bad.  I can go as slowly as I want.

Sewing is therapy.

Halloween Project

I just got a picture of me doing the fitting for a Halloween costume I made for a friend's kid this year.  This does not count for today's minutes but it is cute.

Bodice with lining progress

I am getting close.  You can see the contrast facing I patterned and applied. I wanted to use what I had left of the skirt fabric and that was the only place. But I may have enough for a scrunchie, of course.  Now to decide how/where to apply the sparkly stuff.  Options are beaded fringe, two types of sparkly tape and fake diamonds.

New Years Day

White shirt done except for vent and buttons.  Blue dress moving along. I split the bodice lining and added a facing that is made of out the skirt fabric.  I cut the fabric for adding fringe but decided not to add it since I am determined to use some of that sparkly stuff I bought.  I walked about 2 miles in the morning with my dog and Brian and lifted at the gym at night.

Almost done

Just need to finish side vent and add buttons to front and cuffs.  It was hard to start again 1 year later. I think I did some pattern changes and had some crazy ideas.  What was I thinking.

sleeves on

After a walk with my dog and Brian it will be Front Facing and collar.  Then I will work on the blue dress before I go to buttons. I still need to remember to get buttons for the reversible jacket. I forgot that was one of the reasons I went to the fabric store yesterday.

Monday report

I went to Pacific Fabrics at lunch with my boss and got some navy cotton to do the bodice top on the Rowley dress. I think I will splice it with some of the skirt  fabric I have.  I also bought some fun sparkly tape and sparkly "gems". I don't know where they will go but I want to finish it - today.  (Warning bloggers - there may be a walksew blog coming soon . . . )

I also want to finish the white shirt today. Seriously, I started it almost a year ago and have lost pieces several times because they fell off my dress form and I did not notice.  It deserves better.

I also managed to delay champange and the final two episodes of the Tudors to ride my trainer.  Today I will go for an easy short spin or lift.
