bike ride (sort of)

Even though it started raining I kept riding. But when my back tire blew up, it was time to call Brian for ride. But I did get a decent work out in.'

Here is the progress on the pockets I am installing for a client

I still need to finish the final touches on this one.

This black dress will have print pockets

This skirt will have white pockets

legs together

These pants are super easy. I may finish them tomorrow. But I won't wear them until I finish the top that I am making to go with them.

And I even rode my bike after work. Crazy.

finished product

she loved it.  And nobody will notice that the zipper flap is not totally perfect.

pillow cover

Another thing for a friend.  If it was a client I would have charged way more and not have done it unless she brought me the actual pillow and not just the old cover but . . . And sewing the fringe on was super hard since she did not get enough and I had to pull it to get it to fit.  And she did not get a zipper so I used one from my stash.

Bottom line, it will work.  And it will look better if she keeps the zipper side down.

front pockets

I think these will be fun when they are done. So far, so good. Except for when I cut the dart out in the back.  This is the front pleat and pocket.

disaster averted

I am so used to cutting darts out at work I cut them out in these pants! Crap. Thankfully I was able to sew them closed and no loss. I must remember to focus that I am home sewing, not factory sewing.

photos from the run

It was fun and really well organized. By the end when I saw the sign "Finish"  that was a good "F" word that I was thinking.  It was cool running around the V-Mac.

I am not sure if I will wear it today but done!  I think it will be  good casual dress. Next time I will make the tiers in contrasting colors and add more lace etc.

Mookie was thrilled.

inside view

Here is the inside view. The casing (muslin) for the empire waist that I will thread the elastic through and the sleeve. I still need to finish the lace seam.  Then hem it and hope the empire waist is in the right place.

Next will finish the polka dot top them maybe make some pants.

casing with opening to put elastic through

Sleeve inside. I want to be careful with the lace finishing to make sure it does not ravel

final tier on

Now I just need to put the elastic on and hem it.

And I ran 5 miles. I accidentally paused it for 1/2 mile though

i tier on

Hmmm, this is interesting. The hem shape. It is supposed to be like that. The final tier is the same width. I think it will add to the casual/boho feel. At least I hope.

If I did not have other stuff to do I would finish it tonight.

one tier to go.
me.

putting skirt tiers on

This is an example of some of the issues with this pattern.  Look at the drawings. They are hand drawings and really out of order.  Right now I am sewing on a muslin casing for the elastic for the empire waist.  If I had not been sewing for many years I would not have understood the instructions.

you can sort of see the casing sewn in.  I have the first tier gathered and pinned on

These are the pattern drawings. And they really are drawings.

sleeves and lace on.

New dress

This is a pattern I got to make some casual summer dresses. This is the first one. The pattern maker is based in Seattle and it a little scant on directions. I am hopeful it will turn out ok.

Yesterday I ran 3 miles after work. Tomorrow I have to run 7. Blah. Seahawks 12K is in a week. Here is an update on my top. It is going to get done but I am pretty sure I put the sleeves on the wrong side and made a ton of mistakes. This was fabric somebody gave Mary so I used it. I would not use this unstable of a fabric again but it will be fun to wear.

I am going to get back to posting

I have been working out to schedule, and sewing - just not posting.  Sorry.
I am still down 22 lbs from last summer. My goal is to get down a total of 30.  I am going to do it!  Running has really helped. And those freakin' classes I take

And because for the first time in years I feel like I am thin again, I have been more motivated to sew pretty stuff for myself. Here is what I am making now.  It is hard to sew but I think it will be cute.
