No sewing but I rode my trainer

45 minutes. And there was nothing good on TV so I watched Major Crimes.  I actually got stressed at the end (would the detectives kid get killed) so I switched it over to a different show.

Here is picture of one of my bike teammates with Michael Bennet.  How lucky for him.

the actual story

I am sure I am on for about 5 seconds. Max.  Here is the story.

Mary's headband (and I) make the local news

I was worried about how I looked when I was interviewed by channel 7 when I was out on my run. But I actually looked sort of ok.  My head band helped.

Run and interview

I got interviewed by Channel 7 when I ran by the tennis club.  I will watch to see if they show it.

video update

Yesteray I thought I saw baby fish but it was such a huge baby. So I looked closer, it was a snail!  They are clearly snails that can live in water. No idea how long they have been there or if they will be a problem but here is a report, from me.

Saturday report

No exercise so I have to double up tomorrow. I finally got dad's shirt taken apart. I did the sleeve pattern and you can see that it is has been modified in sewing because the pattern was so beat up.  I hope to get it done early next week and a muslin for fitting next weekend.

I also got some new fabric via Brian's cleaning. The black I can see being a fun sheer over skirt and the other green fabric (even though curtain fabric) I can see as fun loose fitting summer pants.

Last year total

238.5 miles running. But I know there was more because I did not always use my space watch. And riding - I am sure there was way, way more.  I will keep good track now though. (And I ride my trainer so much, that is hard to quantify).

work out update

Last night I walked to the gym and lifted. Tonight I rode my trainer. Tomorrow I will run and lift.  I need to look at that calendar and pick a run for us to in February Mary. 10 miles or so.

my 12K's of Christmas - 12K Run results

my 12K's of Christmas - 12K Run results

12K's of Christmas saves Earl Thomas's life

Yes, in an emotional moment - I pledged the life of Earl Thomas (the fish) on my ability to run the last 1.5 miles of the 12K's of Christmas.  When I got home, Earl was out of hiding and swimming with the other fish (Chris Hansen, Steve Balmer, One of Two, Two of Two, Emma (from the Following), and Marshawn Lynch)

Dress on me

It turned out cute and I got lots of compliments from the ladies at work.  They appreciated that I matched the plaids.

This is Rufus eating. I forgot to post it yesterday.

Steve and Chris live !!!

I went to the aquarium first thing when I got up. I could not find Steve. I checked to see if he was floating. But he was fine. I think they sleep in the bottom corner (the guy at the pet store said they sleep). Anyway, they are fine and look great. I cannot wait until this weekend when we get them friends and more plants

fake belt

I am going to sew this into the waist. It is a nice touch. I probably won't finish until tomorrow night though because I still need hem it and I want to be careful.

aquarium and hummingbird report

Steve and Chris have been in their new home since 9 and all is well. They look a little overwhelmed but they look healthy. We will get them friends and more plants next weekend.

This is Rufus the Hummingbird. He sits on this little drain pipe fixture all day then flies about 18" to the feeder when he is hungry.  I put a heater out for him yesterday but he seems pretty happy in his little fort.  He has attacked Brian several times but  we forgive him. (This  is taken through the screen on the bathroom window)

Final big run before 12 K's of Christmas

Good news is that I did not fall. Bad news is that I am still the slowest runner on the earth

new aquarium

My 5 gallon aquarium had to go. The hood light assembly went out and I could not get just a hood unless I drove all over Seattle. I emailed with the company etc - huge hassle. So I went to petco with the idea of buying a new 5 gallon. They had 30 gallon tanks with LED hoods on sale for less than the 5 gallon! Check it out. Brian helped me get it set up. Chris (Hansen) and Steve (Balmer) are excited to move in tomorrow. They have been with me for almost a year. I love them. After they get settled in the new tank I want to get them more plants and more friends. But isn't it cool. And cost less than a 5 gallon
you can't see Chris or Steve because the light doesn't work.

sides sewn toghethr

Notice how the plaids are straight!  I am going to put the belt around it (see last photos). I made this before and wore it yesterday. Lots of compliments. But this one is being sewn so much better! I think I did the last one in a hurry.  I may finish it tonight and wear it tomorrow.

now I need a zipper

I am driving my car today to avoid an icy fall so I can get one on the way home.  This will be a cute and easy to wear jumper.  My supervisor (last photo) approves.

I also worked on my dress

mnf party behind Filson and more on my dress

Seriously, it  was like I could barely get my scooter through in the alley when I tried to leave yesterday. It was a big party all day back there. And my dress construction continues

6 miles and 2 wipeouts

Husky game and my sewing machine at Filson

Huskies won but my machine did not. It turns out I could not quilt the jacket with it becaus it was so big I could not fit it in and keep it flat and even. So we will need to do it on the industrial machines (like I did in Idaho). Fortunately this is just for 3 samples but they are on a deadline and we need to get cracking!
